As you likely already know, you never truly stop learning your entire life, otherwise you are not living and growing or maybe just not living at all. And the U.S. Department of Labor statistics referenced in that article clearly shows that education has a direct correlation between your level of education and how much you earn!
So it is no small coincidence that this article ties in very tightly with the last one. In fact, this article will take a look at what some successful marketers have to say about the life-long process of continuing education, skills development and of course practical work experience.

Although an article in the Chicago Tribune published in April 2014 paints a much grimmer picture for higher education and the return on investment, statistically speaking, professionals that continued their education experienced much lower unemployment rates and considerably better pay than those who did not. But there also seems to be an interesting direct correlation between a combination of education and practical experience as being much more marketable than just one or the other.
Can you see where this is going yet?
In the realm of marketing and sales that means getting more education and/or experience in all facets of your job. This could be anything from honing your skills as well as developing new skills with word-smithing (i.e. writing copy), social media sales/marketing, SEO, CRM, PPC and so on. It does not necessarily mean getting another degree, but doing some research on your own or even taking some continuing education classes will help to keep your bones from showing up in the marketing and sales fossil records by being a more marketable marketing or sales professional.
