SEO Bootcamp Part 21
Good Monday to you maggot; have you had your coffee and jelly donut this morning? Well you are going to need it, so suck it down and listen up!
The last time around in SEO Bootcamp Part 20, we covered the third step in your combined SEO and Social Media/Social Search battle plan. Specifically, you will want to keep an eye on what Bing, Google and even Facebook are doing to see how social search continues to develop in the coming year. Also, don’t forget that social media shares have shown a definite direct relation from the number of social shares a page or post gets to an increase with in-bound links.
That’s Off-Page SEO in a nutshell numb-nuts!
But that’s not all… You also need to remember SEO Gunny’s “Golden Rule” for stomping the guts out of your competition. Which brings us to the final step in your Social Search marketing warfare training.
Step 4 – SEO Gunny’s Golden Rule
Years ago when River Valley Hosting & Web Design starting teaching people about search engines and optimizing their websites, one rule was the cornerstone of that advice: Always create good content – content is king! Amazingly enough, this is also my golden rule; live by it and the rest will sort itself out. From On-Page SEO to Panda to Penguin and everything else I learned you about, search has changed quite drastically in recent years, but this cardinal rule has remained.
In fact, way back in SEO Bootcamp Part 6, you learned that content has been, is and always will be king! Even with the rapidly growing popularity and influence of social sharing on search results, the good news is if you are already creating useful content, you’ve already won half the battle. Good content is by its very nature more search-friendly than any sales content ever will be. Not to mention that it is also much more likely to get shared across social media networks.
Just keep in mind that the increasingly formal relationship between Social Search and Social Media is really just the natural next-step of what has always been true – content is king. Content that is relevant and can be trusted as authoritative will continue to be the driving force of both your search engine optimization efforts as well as your social media marketing.
