Social Search (or Social Graph as the computer nerds call it) is the new game in town and if you want your business to keep up with the ‘Jones’ than you need to get with the program. It is content that is served up in a search result based upon your social network, whether someone is connected to you via Facebook, Google+, Twitter or any of the other major ones such as LinkedIn.
But you may be thinking to yourself, ‘But what is Social Search SEO Gunny?’
So you’re still clueless after the last article that explained Social Search? Well you’re in luck cupcake, because I gots some examples for your dumb-[expletive deleted]! Here’s the first one…
#1 Google Search, Plus Your World
In 2012, months before the world was supposed to come to an end, the sky was supposed to blow up or something and cats would start sleeping with dogs, Google unveiled Search, Plus Your World. It’s a new way of serving up search results based upon your friends and those that you follow on Google+ (or many of the other social media networks) as well as being based upon your interests. It prioritizes content based on shares or has received a +1 by someone in your network (i.e. Google+ Circles).
In addition to Search, Plus Your World, Google includes social search results from multiple networks throughout your search results page based upon relevance. Content that is linked to your network is displayed with higher relevance than competing pages. But searches must be logged into Google and have their social networks connected for it to work.
This video will show you a quick demonstration of how it all works:
But this is just the first example, there are more and each one has its own twist on Social Search. I just figured I’d let you off easy this time around. Just don’t plan on it happening all of the time, maggot!
Be sure to share this with a friend scumbag and be back here next time for SEO Bootcamp Part 17!
