Also, while the SEO Bootcamp series does touch upon On-Page SEO and Internal Linking, it does so only briefly and it is one of those areas that we get asked about a lot. With that in mind, it was the logical next step to address in this series of tools to greatly increase traffic to your website.
#6 – Internal Linking
Your link score is not entirely based upon how many links connect back to your website. Those kind of links actually fall under the category of Off-Page SEO or External Linking. Internal Linking are those links from pages and posts on your website to other content all within your own website. And Internal Linking can greatly strengthen your link profile with the search engines.
Whenever you create content for your website, be sure to keep on the lookout for opportunities to link to related content that is already a part of your website. These Internal Linking opportunities can be to pages, posts, videos, audio, images, white papers, E-books and anything else you can add to a website. This can also be in the form of a call-to-action in order to get your website visitors to do something.
The great thing about Internal Linking is that no only does it improve your SEO, but it also makes for a better, more engaging experience for your website visitors. It adds value to their experience, it keeps visitors on your website longer and it also offers you more opportunities to generate leads. This is the very cornerstone of increasing your website traffic!
Internal Linking is a major part of On-Page SEO. As you create content, be sure that you are also adding links to other content that is relevant and may be interest to your website visitors. When used in moderation and in conjunction with keywords, keyword phrases and localization, you increase the strength of your link profile while also keeping traffic on your website longer.
