The last time around in 25 Tools To Increase Website Traffic Part 3, we covered mixing things up a bit or more specifically, changing up your content every so often.

Variety is the spice of life and adding a variety to your website and blog will add life in the form of more website traffic driven.  This can be anything from the length of the articles (short, medium or long) to using images, video, audio or even infographics to name a few of the options.  Different things appeal to different people and changing it up once in a while can expose you to a much wider audience.

However, even the greatest content in the world goes unnoticed without something to grab the reader’s attention.  Sometimes this can be solved with an interesting or funny image, but more times than not, it is the heading or title of the article that draws the reader in.

#4 Hook, Line and Sinker

Using the analogy of fishing, one must have a juicy morsel of some sort on the hook in order to capture some fish.  Depending on the fish that you desire to catch, dictates the type of bait that you use to lure them in to take a bite.  And to catch a lot of fish, you have to know where they live, what they are hungry for as well as the tools you will need to complete the job.

In the same fashion, website marketing is a lot like fishing.  You need to know what your target audience is ‘hungry’ for and give it to them.  You need a juicy morsel (the headline or title) to get them ti ‘bite’ by clicking the link to your website and articles.  The headline is one of the most important parts of your content.  Without tempting headlines, even the most well-written content will remain anonymous!

Just as the fisherman must master the art of fishing, so to do marketers need to master the art of writing compelling headlines.  Just as an example, the writers at BuzzFeed write upward of twenty or more different headlines before finally settling on the one that will drive the most traffic.  In the same fashion, you must think very carefully about your headlines before hitting that publish button.
