In the previous article, 25 Tools to Increase Website Traffic Part 12, we covered one of the more technical aspects of building website traffic called microdata.  Harnessing microdata, like many other things involved in SEO and marketing, takes some technical know-how as well as a fair amount of time to implement.  Especially if you already have a lot of web pages and other content prior to integrating microdata into your strategy.

However, with the holidays upon us, we thought we would give you an easier tool to use this time around.  This tool requires a lot less technical savvy or the need for any kind of special services and instead focuses on building relationships in much the same manner as you would with guest blogging, that was discussed back in Part 8 & Part 9 of this series of articles.

#13 – Conduct Interviews

Ok, so you’re not Peter Parker or Clark Kent working for a newspaper and secretly a super hero, but you don’t have to be in order to interview some of the thought leaders within your industry.  Contrary to what you may think or at least have heard from others, interviewing people is not just for the newspapers or the news channels; you can do them too!  Heck, you will probably be amazed by how many people would actually be willing to be interviewed – if only you just ask them.

To do this, all you need to do is reach out to them by email or perhaps a few phone calls (which is a lot more personal by the way).  Keep the interview short and focused, then all you need to do is publish the interviews on your blog.  The name recognition alone can help to boost your credibility as well as increasing your website traffic – so conduct several interviews.

Summary

Interviewing industry thought leaders can go a long way towards building credibility for your business.  Blogging about those interviews generates interest with your audience and it exposes you to a wider audience since the interviewee is very likely to share the content with their network too.  Last but far from least, conducting interviews of industry leaders builds credibility for both parties involved as well as building authority for your blog.

It is a win-win situation that benefits both the interviewer and the interviewee as well as a large number of people from both audiences like consuming that sort of content.  And that’s not even mentioning the bonuses interviewing gets you from the various search engines in the form of authority and better page ranking.
