The most recent project that was completed this week was actually some web development for myself. I wanted a website that highlights everything that I am doing with my businesses as well as my books, public speaking and so on. Particularly, I wanted to create a site that connects all of my other sites together, all in one tidy place. The results is yet another WordPress blog that I made a custom theme for and I am quite happy with the results.
The design concept I took from an earlier version of the site that was static HTML pages. I like the colors and patriotic tone of the site, so I hacked apart the old version and created something that was a bit more XHTML and CSS friendly. I also made a few major revisions to the graphics for the site, including the header, reducing the emphasis on my own name and adding a head-shot. Other revisions include toning down the background so that there is better contrast between the background and the actual content of the site; the results of which I am very happy with.
Overall, the major portion of the web design project is completed. However, over the course of the coming weeks I will continue making some minor tweaks to the design and layout here and there. Also, as time and inspiration permit, I will be adding more content and media to help promote my public speaking as well as my books. Last but not least, I will also be taking advantage of social media to promote the site in addition to making it more interactive for site visitors. All in all, I’m not sure I can really give myself a testimonial but I am certainly happy with the work of my web designer!
